Florida Villas – Orlando for Grown Ups

Mickey Mouse overload? Just because you are staying in one of the Florida villas in the Disney area doesn’t mean you can’t act your age.

If you and your family are staying in one of the Florida villas in the Disney area but you have maxed out on cartoon creatures and sugary-sweet fairytales, check out the alternative Orlando experience for grown ups.

Orlando Festivals

Depending on what time of year you are renting out your Florida villa, you could be lucky enough to catch one of the festivals on offer:

  • The Silver Spurs Rodeo. Since 1944 the rodeo has featured some of the top rodeo athletes and attracts 50,000 spectators. You will need to book your Florida villa mid-February or July to catch the show.
  • The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival runs mid to late-April.
  • The Buick Scramble features 100,000 golfers competing at the Walt Disney resort. If you’re golf-mad, you’ll need to consider renting one of the Florida villas in the Orlando region during October to catch this show.
  • Gay Day Disney occurs on the first Saturday in June and over 100,000 gay and lesbians descend on Cinderella’s castle.

Galleries and Museums

If you’re looking for a more sobering cultural experience, don’t be put off renting Florida villas in the Disney area – Orlando boasts some fine galleries and museums too.

  • The Mennello Museum of American Folk Art

Located at 900 E Princeton St, this collection has paintings by Earl Cunningham and features rotating exhibitions focusing on folk art.

  • Orlando Museum of Art

You can find this gallery at 2416 N Mills Ave. If you love modern art, this is the place to go – with an emphasis on minority American artists. Dramatic installation pieces and impressive collections of African and pre-Columbian art make this museum a must.

Orlando City

If you’re looking for an afternoon of just chilling out, it’s worth taking a trip from your Florida villa to visit Orlando city – leave the car at home, make the most of the free downtown bus service and enjoy a walk in the park to idle away the day. Winter Park is a well-to-do upmarket area with designer shops, restaurants and luxury Florida villas and homes.  Here, you can take a scenic boat tour through the city’s lakes and canals and soak in the atmosphere.

Luxury Florida Villas

One of the main reasons for taking the boat tour is to check out the extravagant Florida villas and homes – all vastly expensive by American standards. There’s no better way for nosey-parkers to spend an afternoon than ogling deluxe properties.
