Florida Villas – Toddlers and Theme Parks
If you are renting out one of the Florida villas in Orlando with a toddler in tow, check out our guide below.
Toddlers have tantrums – it’s a fact. And even a holiday staying in one of the luxury Florida villas in Orlando with Disney World on their doorstep doesn’t guarantee a day without tears or tantrums.
Florida villas and toddlers
If you have toddlers or young children then staying in one of the Florida villas in Orlando is ideal – it’s the perfect way to relax in a home from home. You are guaranteed a sense of privacy and you don’t have to worry about the children disturbing hotel guests. It may be ideal staying in one of the luxury Florida villas near to the theme parks, but once you venture into the theme parks with a toddler, than there’s a whole new set of potential problems.
If you have concerns, it is worth waiting till your child is older so that they are guaranteed to enjoy the visit – it is a fabulous but pricey holiday. But if you have a toddler as part of a larger family visiting Disney, than you will need to find ways of coping.
Comfort of a Florida villa
Taking a toddler anywhere on holiday is a challenge – lets face it, taking them to the supermarket can be like climbing Everest. When it comes to leaving the safe comfort of your Florida villa and heading down to the theme parks, you could be in for a rocky time negotiating the rides. Most of the rides will be off limits due to height restrictions - for most of the attractions, you have to be seven or older. But even if your child is old enough, some rides might be too dark, too fast or too scary for certain ages or personalities.
The rides
For the more active, high-speed rides, such as Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, kids are required to be at least 40 inches high and 3 years old, so if your child just misses out by a few inches, it could result in an unpleasant tantrum. It is a good idea to sit down with your family before you leave your Florida villa to make it clear to the children what is, and what isn’t allowed.
If you have older children, than a good compromise is to split up - let the older kids go with one parent and the younger with the other. With the younger kids, concentrate on Fantasyland behind the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disney World. It features fairy tale inspired rides.
Younger imaginations
Tarzan’s Treehouse is a great park for little ones, as is Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Mickey’s Toontown features endless fun for younger imaginations and the A Bug’s Land section is specially designed for the younger age group.
